Exit polls local elections

On behalf of the City of Utrecht and the Research Centre Drechtsteden (Dordrecht region) DESAN has been involved in the execution of exit polls during the Dutch local elections March 3rd. In Utrecht DESAN interviewers interviewed voters at three voting offices about their current vote and their 2006 vote. From 7 AM to 8 PM 1.584 voters have participated in the poll in Utrecht. For Dordrecht DESAN provided pocket PCs and technical infrastructure to carry out exit polls at ten voting offices. In Dordrecht 780 voters have been polled during the day. In both cities the outcomes of the polls have immediately been transformed to a first prognosis of the election results, which has been presented during the election night at the City Hall. Local media have covered the polls.
