DESAN is a flexible organisation with a flat structure. Lines are short, commitment is strong, business culture is informal. DESAN believes giving well-trained employees a high degree of personal responsibility maximises job satisfaction and work quality at the same time. Everyday management at DESAN is run by the board of directors (Karin Rutten, Han van Dongen, Hans Rutjes and Jannes Hartkamp) and the heads of department. Beside a pool of experienced interviewers, coders, scan-verifyers and data typists, DESAN counts around 38 permanent employees, in four departments: data collection (including our call centre) ICT-production (including application programming of questionnaires) ICT-development (including digital reporting, database management and CAI-software innovation) and project management. From the beginning to the end of each project our project managers organise and coordinate all stages and are responsible for all external communication.
